Partner Mats Welin has been appointed chairman of SPV (Finnish Sailing and Boating Federation).

“As a member of SPV’s board, I have noticed that member clubs expect more from SPV than what it currently offers. I have time, experience and my sleeves rolled up for this job. At the core of SPV’s activities must be the member clubs. During planning and implementation of services, the diversity of member clubs must be taken into account. However, we all have the same vision. SPV’s current strategy is good, it just needs implementation. My wish is that the focus should be from the upper level into concrete actions on the level of the clubs. The international competitiveness of Finnish sailing and boat sports must be nurtured. The basis of the environment, competence, safety and diversity for the future must be guaranteed. And the most important thing is to secure the enthusiasm of both children and young people – that is, our future – for boating. The chairman’s role is to be initiator, coordinator and negotiator. Work with people. I think that’s where I’m at my best!”
